What sort of bike do you ride? There are many mini weekend get-aways for MTB riders, various bike shops in town offer short rides in the outskirts of Shanghai. If you are a roadie, there's weekend rides to the Pudong airport starting from the German center, be there at 7am sharp... the boys don't wait.

Thanks so much for this useful piece of information. I am a beginner roadie. How do I find out more about this Pudong airport ride? Is there someone I have to call? And how fast are they riding?

No worries, glad i could help out.

Perform a search in Yahoo for the FHL (Flying hairy legs) forum or just click on the link found in bikehome's home page located at the bottom. It's a forum/club consist mostly of foreigners for foreigners so you'll find it easier to navigate and look for the informations you need because it's all in English.

Well... i do want to warn you that the pace for the Pudong rides are fast.... and they don't usually wait for beginners.... sadly. If you are not that confident and wish to take it slow, i'd suggest you try the night rides around Century park every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 7:30pm till 9pm. Each lap around Century park is roughly 5KM and it's up to you to do your lap counts so there's no rush and pressure. Unfortunately, there isn't many ppl during winter... but it's filled with riders in Spring and Summer.
