I am thinking of cycling from Pudong Hua Mu Lu area to the seaside. Wondering if anyone has tried that- what's the route to take? Is there a dedicated cycling track among the highway?

Hi there,

It would be great if you could describe a little about yourself? Where are you from? where are you currently staying? (Puxi or Pudong?) what sort of bike do you ride? Are you a recreational or enthusiast rider? These information will help us guide you better. Thanks!

E.

I am from Singapore. Being here about 5 months (frankly most of the time out of Shanghai on business trips). I ride MTB, Ironhorse Warrior Expert. Not extremely fit but shouldn't have problem covering 30-40km with minimal rest. Hope to build up my stamina over time.

By the way, the seaside that I am referring is the 三甲港.

There are some MTB rides around out skirts of SH in the weekends... some even go as far as nanjing or Mo Gan mountain. Go check it out in the activity notice area.

Thanks. Nanjing sounds very far from Shanghai. Not confident if I can survive the trip. Any idea what's the best route to take to the seaside?

haha...no worries bro, all extended travels are done with the aid of motorized vehicals like trains or buses. Riding to Nanjing will kill any novice rider. I've not been to the seaside myself so can't provide you with any tips on that...

Hey hi fellow sporean! From what I read here you sound like the person I would like to ride with. I am a Sporean (5 years in Shanghai) and just started road biking and looking to build stamina, too. Drop me a note!

I just rode the route yesterday

ride LongDongDaDao towards YuanDongDaDao - Cut right into DongChuan Road because there is no more bike lane - go all the way until you hit HuaXiaDong Road and take a left there and then just ride straight (you will have to cut across YuanDong) until you come to SanJiaGang

If you are adventurous enough, come back the same way but turn left on YuanDong and pedal toward the airport, shiok!

Congrats..... what is the distance and how long does it take?

I am just so frustrated with SH weather. It was bright sunshine from Monday to Friday. Guess what... when it comes to Sat ad Sun, it turns cold and wet. I wanted to take my bike out for a ride today but the weather just put me off. I guess before I know it, the scorching summer will be here.

There are only 52 weekends in a year. If we take away the winter and summer weekends, it leaves us with 20+ weekends to cycle. Minus away the wet weekends during spring and autumn, I don't think there are more than 10 weekends to cycle. No ownder my stamina has been going downhill since I arrive. What a life in SH!!
