Now the fun can begin!!
3CC system
(Three Chamber Cord System) The patent pending 3CC system revolutionizes
air-based mountain bike suspension technology!
For the first time, the advantages of air suspension can be used beyond the
100 mm mark without compromise. The system also offers comfortable travel adjustment.
Coil spring fans have known it for ages: conventional air sprung suspension
systems have a much too shallow characteristic spring line, especially on the
first half of their travel. The result: on downhills: the fork is already lowered so
much by the wheel load shift that very little travel is left when riding over
obstacles – sometimes less than half of the overall travel.
The annoying pedal bob in the sag zone is also caused by a too shallow
characteristic line.

Now, the characteristics of steel coils which are nearly optimal in this case can not only be reached by using the 3CC technology but they can even be surpassed individually. Steeper, shallower or more progressive characteristics can be set up as you wish.
How does the system work?
A piston in front of the main air piston is held in position by a high performance cord about halfway through the travel. Behind this piston on a cord there is a progression chamber with more pressure than the main chamber. If the fork is now compressed, the main chamber at first has a characteristic line as if the piston on the cord was its end, a bit as if the fork “only” had 60mm overall travel. This results in a steep characteristic spring line. Since the pressure in the main chamber rises when the fork is compressed, the pressure in the main chamber and the progression chamber will equalize after a certain amount of travel. From this point on the characteristic line will proceed as if the piston was not there. This results in a “normal” characteristic line until the end of travel.

With the 3CC system, the amount of travel before the point when the main piston and the piston on a cord meet is continuously variable. Changing the setting always results in the optimal characteristic line for the resulting travel.
The USD principle (Up-Side-Down)
The upside-down system has been used in high quality motorbike forks for a long time. The advantages are: the stronger parts of the fork, its upper tubes, are at the highly stressed areas directly below the fork crown. The lower stanchions have a smaller diameter but are not stressed as much. The increase in overall stiffness leads to a better working fork in all riding situations because the telescopically guided tubes are under less tension and are deformed less in respect to each other. The USD system also results in a substantially greater tensile strength of the upper tubes.
The diameter of the upper tubes is 44 mm and that of the lower stanchions 36 mm! This oversize construction is not only extremely rugged but also very light. At 156 mm travel, the sensational weight of the GA-force flame is only 1690 grams! This includes the thru axle, by the way!
The new electronic suspension control system Trail Tronic® can also be used with the Flame which then adapts its damping to the characteristics of the ground. In combination with the rear damper Air-force TT (Trail Tronic®) this gives you the first fully integrated electronically controlled suspension system for bikes!
Compression and rebound damping can also be adapted to your individual needs, of course.
The guide bushings of an USD fork are in the lower end of the upper tubes so they are constantly lubricated by an oil bath, which reduces friction and wear.
The responsiveness of a suspension system is strongly dependent on its unsprung mass. The principle of USD systems shifts the weight up and the unsprung mass only consists of the thinner lower stanchions and the thru axle.
