When I was home enjoying my vacation, I made a bike trip alone to Jiuzhaigou. The scenery from Mao County through Song pan to “the paradise on earth-Jiuzhaigou” was just gorgeous. Apart from the great scenery, the other reason I took that trip was because I really wanted to see what it looks like with my own eyes in areas where a lot of Qiang People and Tibetans inhabitants live.

To make the trip more interesting, during these 9 days that I was there, I would often “beg” door to door, beg the locals for things to eat and drink and even a place to stay over night. Almost all the people that I went for, they were so generous and kind. The whole point of doing all these “crazy things” was because I’m interested in Qiang and Tibetan culture even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to find out anything deep. I asked them what crops they would grow in order to make a living and if they had difficulties sending kids to school. The story down below was just a small portion of what I saw along the road.

The concrete road ended at the bottom of mountain, two kids who were carrying timbers waved at me and said hello. I got off of the bike and started walking with them. One kid, I should have asked him how old he was, he said he was on the 6th grade of Primary school (about 11 years old), the other kids just went to junior middle school this last September. I recall the days I was a little kid. I would also help out with family chores, looking after pigs or chickens. I could tell the bamboo buckets were heavy, their faces would burst extremely red and they would rest for about 30 seconds and continue walking up the slope toward theirs families. I asked the older kid what he wanted to do in the future; he told me that he would come back to the village to farm the land if he doesn’t qualify for the university. I said to him if that’s the case, he’d be doing the same thing his ancestors had done their. He nodded his head and said bye from his house. Another bunch of young kids were waiting for the commute bus going to Mao county for school (local schools were celebrating Lunar Qiang Year, they were having a 4 days break), they were whispering and giggling, they thought it’s too funny for a guy like me to wear jian mei ku and helmet(which means tight pants).

For time reasons, I’m not going to talk about this further more. I just got a few boxes of clothes and some stationary ready, send them off to those kids. If you also want to help out a little, please let me know.

I'm using another ID(国际象棋) as well, you can also send messages to that alternatively.

To upgrade your bike, a few hundred RMB makes no difference.

But if we could just splurge 0.1 RMB every day and contribute it to these Tibetan kids, this will make a huge difference upon them.
