Where to buy hard case luggage for bike

  is there any place that sells a hard case luggage for transporting of bikes through airports?

27bike Sells Polaris Hard case but they are quite expensive because they are depleted stocks....meaning the factory that produces them in China no longer in business. I have one myself and brought my road bike back to Malaysia for the Chinese new year holidays... It's very sturdy but watch out not to over tighten the holding straps within the bike case because the plastic rings just won't hold up to abuse from airport carriers.

Thanks a lot! I searched a little on the web and these cases are going for US$800+. How much did you pay?

Polaris has many range in their product line-up... The one you saw is probably the top dog. The ones for sale in Shanghai is also the same one i have is the Polaris Eva Bike Pod. They are retailing at RMB1800 a piece.

If you value your bike or your bike is of a great value, then i suggest the hardcase and nothing else. The baggage handlers in the airport are rough and they often THROW luggage around so common sense will dictate that soft shells will not survive such harsh condition.

mate, the soft bags in deca wont do it.

get a hardcase, its a decent investment if u plan to travel alot back to wherever u are from...

if u play cheap and want to take the risk (like me), wrap ur bike up in bubble wrap and get a carton box from the bikestore (pick one that is in a 'better' condition) and do standard operating procedure of stripping ur bike down.

tie all lose parts and the bike should fit nicely into the box.

also get some newspaper and fill the rest of the space, this provides some form of cushioning...though very minimal... that's if u want to save the money...

btw, having that extra red sticker only means that the airport handlers will 'throw the box' into the cargo compartment with less strength.... ;)

but yes, i'll get a bikebox before i go back during summer for the bike im currently riding. :)
