That maneuver is called a "No-hand Superman". It's done with 2 gaint ramps or slopes with a launch ramp on one end and a receiving ramp on the other side to buffer the landings. The biker have to gain enough speed before the launch so that he could "get enough air" (this means "high enough" in biking terminology) to perform this task. As soon as he launches, he throws himself backwards releasing all contact with the bike to perform a what we call "No-hand superman" as the stunt looks like superman flying in the air. It's only a short period of time (about 2-3 seconds) before he catches his bike again and lands....if he fails (which most of them do when they are learning the trick), it usually results in a nasty crash!  |
