标题: riding in shanghai
  Hi,

Thanks both of you for your replies. Iam riding mtb but are more used to road bike. When iam in my home country i always go with road bike and been competing in triathlon since 1998, so i have some years riding experience, but not in Shanghai.

As i said i only have mtb here in SH and are looking for some training groups. What is the normal distance you go and what is usual your avarage speed?

well, glad to see you! Normally ,these guys always ride for 100km every time or more ,that means may be Sat. or Sun. they have enough time to go outside to have the fresh air. And sometimes in Tur. and Thu. they will ride around Century Park in PuDong, or the ZiZhu Campus. There are less cars and bikes...and better air quality!!!
by the way ,where do you come from?

For the weekend rides to the Airport along LongDong highway; 90KM. It may sound simple for a rookie but it's the speed that kills off the rest of the riders (including myself).... AVS reaches a top 40 and traveling speed for most part of the trip don't drop below 38KMH so it's pretty intense. The whole journey including pitt stops is only a mere 2 hours....

For the MTB group, it's not the distance that matters but the destination itself.... that's the whole point of MTB right? Riding in the jungle and hills.... The closest you can savour MTB rides is She Shan or you can take a 2 hour train out to Nanjing.

Cheers,
E.

Thanks again for your replys. Sounds like you have good pace on the 90k rides :)
To bad i dont have my racer here. You are right that mtb is made for trails outsde the city but to be prepared its good to do some training sessions in the city.

And, iam from Sweden.

No worries, glad i could help out.

I used to train with MTB in SH, as soon as i jump on the road bike for the first time...it felt like i have wings because of all those years of MTB riding... Anyhow, MTBs act as a dually here....gives you an option whether to ride in the hills or road...just switch the tyres.

Indeed, 90Km in two hours is a very respectable pace.

Indeed, but i'm referring to the FHL members...they are very strong riders... i could only do 90KM in 4 hours. That's a 2 whole hours behind...
